SPOT 2012

SPOT 2012 is over. Thanks to all who came out to the concerts with Shiny Darkly, Snake & Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band and Thee Attacks. We enjoyed you enjoying them, yes. Below is some kind words about the release parties Friday and our official Crunchy Club SPOT showcase Saturday.

Snake & Jet's Amazing Bullit Band

This is how we release-party. Snake & Jet & Laura at HQ.

British CLASH MUSIC joined us at the release party and they liked what they saw:

“Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band boast groin-friendly psychedelic grooves and a mesmerising dynamic between the gawky frontman and supercool Agyness Dean-alike on bass. They’ve got the full package: style, songs, sublime riffs – do catch them next time they darken your neck of the woods.”

“Thor, Thomas and Laura delivered a set that oozed of energy, groovy basslicks, and a lovely playfull guitar, all delivered with a confident smile.”
Junk De Luxe

“The combination of guitar, bass, drums and vocal is not easily made exciting – but Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band manages it to surprisingly great extent.”

Shiny Darkly

Shiny Darkly amazes the Voxhall audience. Photo by Toke Hage (www.tokehage.dk)

Shiny Darkly had their sort-of-first-concert-outside-CPH-debut at SPOT. With no less than four concerts during the weekend, it is only fair to say that they made a depressingly beautiful first appearance in Aarhus. Gaffa, Soundvenue, Clash Music and Drowned in Sound agree:

“Every note and every beat sounded as if it was a matter of life and death”

(5/6) GAFFA

“The ability to repress the anger and the smouldering gloominess without ever letting it explode is the core in Shiny Darklys expression”

(4/6) SOUNDVENUE

“Shiny Darkly are one of the acts we’d been tipped about in advance, a youthful outfit from Copenhagen who play punky shoegaze, led by a chap who looks like Alex Kapranos’ younger brother – they’re wonderfully, chunkily energetic.”
CLASH MUSIC

“Singer Kristoffer Bech holds court in the centre of the stage, asking repeatedly “Who’s suicidal?” before launching into the band’s Bunnymen infused anthem ‘He’s Suicidal’. One song even sounds like The Horrors covering ‘Anarchy In The UK’ (no, we aren’t kidding). Sure, it may have been done before but judging by the trio’s cold demeanour, Shiny Darkly sincerely mean it, man.”

Thee Attacks

Once again Thee Attacks tore SPOT apart. Not that we expected anything less. If you missed the show, you have to read this review (if you were there, you should still read it, of course). It’s good. And funny. And every word is very true. Thee Attacks is the combination between a modern-day-Danish-Elvis and an old-school porn star with a unruly moustache. Yes.

“intriguing and down right impressive as they delivered a flawless, confident performance that radiated maturity and experience.”

It looked somewhat like this. Now you go wondering how it felt the day after…

Hopefully everyone has just as good a time as we had. But of course you had – with SPOT, Aarhus and all this crunchiness, who could ask for more? With all this said: thanks again for a great festival, see you next year!

CRUNCHY FROG RECORDS @ SPOT 2012 PRESENTS…

So the entire Crunchy Frog conglomerate is pretty psyched about the upcoming Spot Festival in the lovely city of Aarhus. Check out the mischief we will be up to.

Crunchy Club Kicks Off! by Kristoffer 28. February 2012

Touting proper rock n roll attitude, Thee Attacks and newcomers Shiny Darkly took to the stage Thursday last at the Wheelbarrow in Camden, London

Crunchy Club # 1

It was an opening night to remember when we kicked off our club residency at The Wheelbarrow. Thee Attacks delivered and Shiny Darkly, even though they are new to the Crunchy Frog label certainly took no backseat.

If this was the beginning, we can’t wait to blow your minds with the likes of Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band and The Malpractice.

It’s gonna be effin’ Crunchy!

Until then… (click to see the photo exposé from Cruchy Club #1).

CRUNCHY STARTER LIVE KLUB I LONDON
– Crunchy Club #1 går ned i awten!

Venner! Værs’go:

The Attacks

Watson er bedst kendt for at have vundet producergrammyen for The White Stripes’ ”Elephant” album og singlen ”Seven Nation Army”, men han har en lang glorværdig karriere bag sig, som også tæller producercredits for The Kills, Holly Golightly, The Datsuns, The Ettes, Madness, Nic Armstrong, Supergrass og mange mange MANGE flere. f.eks. Thee Attacks.

The Attacks@Toe Rag

What a trooper.

Klik HER for Facebook.

Næste måned er det The Malpractice og Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band der spiller op til Crunchy Club#2. Det er den 8. marts. Facebook det HER.

CRUNCHY FROG SIGNS SHINY DARKLY by by Simone 16. February 2012

This.is.fresh. Shiny Darkly is probably the most amazing and in every way coolest band, you’ve stumbled upon since you stumbled upon something really, really, really good. And here is the best part: CRUNCHY FROG JUST SIGNED THEM. We’re so proud and thrilled to share these huge news with all of you, and if possibly we’re even more excited to introduce our three fine, young men in Shiny Darkly to you and the whole beautiful world.

Shiny DarklyShiny Darkly is white-dark noisepop wrapped in a simple lo-fi formula; it’s electric and noisy, and with inspirations such as the post punk and shoegaze of the 80’s and 90’s, Joy Division, The Cure and Jesus and The Mary Chain – even with strings to the best of the 60’s and 70’s, it’s not unlikely that you’ll regret not signing the band yourself. At Crunchy Frog HQ we all agree: this is unpleasantly good. As in really, really, REALLY crazy stupid good.

There’ll be an EP out sooner than soon – the band will be in studio with the former PowerSolo-member, Jens ”Benz” Søndergård, the brilliant man behind brilliant albums from Iceage and Thulebasen among others. So expect your favorite songs of 2012 in early May. We intend to keep you posted, but start counting the days. If you haven’t already met Kristoffer, Mads and Oliver, you surely get the chance now – already this Saturday, they’ll celebrate the amazing news with a concert at KB18. Join them, join all of us, propose a toast, fall in love and forget that you ever knew a life without this shiny darkness.

And for the UK-people reading along – there’s no need to fight, we’ve plenty of Shiny Darkly for all of you. They’re replacing Lars and The Hands of Light on our first Crunchy Club night in London 23 February 23. So go ahead, bring your very best friends and your dancing shoes – with both Thee Attacks and Shiny Darkly, you have quite a night ahead of you!

With these words, we’ll let you go, but only because we’re absolutely sure where you’re going…

The Sacrifices You Make If You Wanna Be A Rock Star by Kristoffer 15. February 2012

As you might know, Thee Attacks are currently in London working on their second album.

Thee Attacks are immensely focused on making this album their greatest yet – they are so keen on meeting producer Liam Watson’s demands that Terry, the other night parted ways with his appendix.

No Ozzy, you can’t have it for dinner.

Appendix United

We all wish a speedy recovery for Terry – so he can get back to the studio and also be ready for Crunchy Club on the 23rd
